Camp Ta Kum Ta

For the past several years, we have worked to motivate students to take in interest in a local charity, especially during the holiday season. This year, the students selected Camp Ta Kum Ta, which is a summer camp in South Hero for children living with cancer.

Through a series of team meetings, the students expressed their desire to make and sell ornaments. We formed partnerships with Keeler Bay and Robinson's Hardware so that we could have a retail display location to balance our ads on Craig's List. The students make ornaments from metal hardware, from borax crystals and from orgami paper.

In math classes, students developed a pricing system for the ornaments and generated a business model. In Language Arts Classes, students develop brochures and Michael Monley developed a press release that was printed in the islander.

In all, the students donated $200 to the Camp. Way to go kids!
